Consurv were commissioned to create a board to formulate a long term conservation strategy for the City Walls and insure the highest standards of architectural and conservation construction. (Valued Engineering) To achieve this, Consurv has tried to create a strategy that is sympathetic to the various stages of construction and the architectural additions that have already taken place. As a result of this strategy, Consurv have increased the visibility of the city walls while enhancing the modern environment they occupy.

The construction of Waterford’s City Walls began in the early thirteenth century by the Anglo Normans. In the present day, the city walls are one of the best medieval conservation projects in Ireland.
