St Patrick’s Street, branching just off Cork City’s Main Street, was established early on as part of Cork’s main commercial area. As a result this development carries important architectural heritage imbued with cultural, historical and social significance. Consurv led by Dr. Brennan, were commissioned to assist with the design stage of the development of the buildings in this area.
With the co-operation of the U.C.C Historic Buildings Unit a design was formulated which ensured the historic architectural texture and the heritage of St. Patrick’s Street was respected while allowing for modern development for the surrounding buildings in Cork’s inner city. All of which was done in compliance with the principles of the I.C.O.M.O.S.
