Upon our initial arrival to Dunboy Castle, our team were able to compile a comprehensive conservation report on the historic building’s structure. The report consisted of three major components that detailed the amount and the complexity of the work that needed to be done. These components included a Condition report, an Environmental report and an Archaeological Assessment.
The report detailing the condition of the building and the archaeological assessment of the site were of great importance during the restoration period. On the assessment’s completion the conservation work began, some which involved some of the most challenging stonework conservation ever attempted in Ireland.
The advantages of developing Dunboy Castle are obvious as it ensures that this important historical building is conserved for future generations in a sustainable manner, compliant with Best Conservation Practice. The hotel developments proposed by Cap Partners Ltd and West Face Hotel Group include a top quality restaurant and bar, leisure centres and a number of luxury suites. The development also includes two new bedroom blocks accessed by a glass link corridor which has been sensitively designed to best compliment the historic structure of Dunboy Castle.
